Dr Heather Straughan and Dr Mike Slade (who is the Head of Section for Recovery at The Institute of Psychiatry at The Maudsley) attended the BBC, Bush House on Monday 1st June for an interview by BBC Radio 4.

They spoke of the recovery approach, and Dr Heather spoke of how this is being hijacked by others for their own agendas. She also spoke of the ’recovery warp’ whereby users were no longer in the driving seat of recovery, and asked ‘what would be the quality that would result?’

There was a plug for The Recovery In-Sight Centre - the introduction by BBC Radio 4 presenter Claudia Hammond - All in the Mind - as she introduced Dr Straughan. Both Claudia and the programme producer Fiona Hill thought it went extremely well and said that Dr Heather spoke with conviction.

The radio programme “All in the Mind” went out on Tuesday 9th June at 9pm on Radio 4, and was repeated on Wednesday 10th June.
