Saturday 8th September is a red letter day for Recovery In-Sight members .. so please put this date in your diary!
The 2nd Saturday in the month is the usual day for the Watford and Stevenage bipolar support groups to meet – and if you look at the page on Peer Support you will find out more about this season’s meetings:
* in Stevenage, there will be a usual self-help meeting from 2pm – 4pm, ideal for new people to find out more about self-help and ask questions in a less intimidating environment as with a regular small group of members, facilitated by an experienced In-Sight trainer and group facilitator, and
* in Watford, from 10.30am – 12.30pm, consultant psychiatrist Dr Stephanie Sadler will be presenting on bipolar disorder and taking questions from members. Dr Sadler’s presentations have proved to be The most popular event over the last few years since she has been presenting regularly every year since the group started. Members have really welcomed her ‘user-friendly’ approach and excellent knowledge of bipolar and the latest developments in the field. Donations will be requested from attending members to contribute towards the cost of this event.
* in Watford, at the Old Free School, home of RISE, the team opens its doors to the public for the 2nd time for English Heritage Day, from 1pm – 4pm last entry. RISE is working with the owners of the building RHR plc and Together Communications, and Watford Museum, to open up yet more of the building than was accessible last year! An experience not to be missed. Entry is free and it is the chance to look around this grade II* listed building (one of more than special interest, of which there are few in Watford), and a chance for members to continue their support day with fellow members and their families, in finding out more about the building’s history, its current use and its ghost! Refreshments will be served so a lovely environment to spend some time catching up. Last year, several members brought their families, and the children loved the ghost tour!
If members would like to help on the day, please get in touch with the team on 01923-297122 to attend the pre-public opening day meeting.
So – put Saturday 8th September in your diary! An excellent way to start off the Autumn season by getting together with other members after the Summer break, and by strengthening your support network and social circle for the Winter ahead!
