Old Free School opens for the 1st time to the public - Saturday 10th September
-
Calling all members of the social enterprise and members of the public! The Old Free School in Watford, where The Recovery In-Sight Social Enterprise has been based since September 2010, will be open to the public for the first time in its history on Saturday 10th September, from 10.30am until 4pm.
This is to mark events taking place around the UK during the annual 4-day English Heritage event. RISE team members have been working with Watford Museum to organise this, and it is with grateful thanks to the Watford Mayor’s Fund, and with a big thank you to the owners of the building, Retail Human Resources plc, that this has been made possible.
Entrance is free - you will have the opportunity to learn more about what learning and teaching was like when this Grade II* Â building was first opened as a Free School in 1704, founded by Elizabeth Fuller of Watford Place, who the Masters and Schoolmistresses were, the School’s history, the friendly ghost and much more. Refreshments will be served outside the School weather permitting, or inside the Main School Room if not.
RISE will be taking interest from attendees on the day regarding delivering a free mental health awareness course later in September at the School. If you are interested, please leave your details as places are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
For all members of the two bipolar self-help groups running in Stevenage and in Watford on the 2nd Saturdays of the month - this is an opportunity for you to get together at the School to find out more about where your social enterprise is based and to meet up with other group members across Hertfordshire at this special annual event. The nearby Bedford Alms Houses and St Mary’s Church and Tower are also open on Saturday 10th September so there is plenty for the whole family to see.
As a member of the social enterprise, if you would like to get involved in helping on the day, contact the RISE team on 01923-297122 to find out more.
