New voluntary opportunities & job-skills training in RISE’s offices, Old Free School, Watford

  • Due to a recent award from The European Social Fund/Skills Funding Agency, Recovery In-Sight is pleased to announce that it can now accommodate 12 new volunteers who wish gain valuable experience in RISE’s offices and help promote RISE’s services more widely.

Volunteers will work in a fully-functioning office that is service user-led and fully supportive, to gain and regain office skills and job-related skills. Volunteers will also benefit from taught job-skills training (areas such as letter writing, CVs, preparing for interviews, and job-searching). Goal-planning for gaining employment will also be offered as well as individual learning plans.

Volunteers will work alongside staff team members and receive on-the-job training in a number of different aspects of office work. The work is varied and can depend upon what a volunteer wants to progress in terms of how this experience will enhance their CVs and increase their chances of getting an interview and getting a job.

Personal work projects, as far as these might be accommodated within the aims of RISE, are also open to discussion so that each volunteer maximises his/her chances of this experience to move on to higher education, or return to work, or to increase their voluntary commitments. One example of a previous personal project has been volunteering in marketing whilst establishing a newsletter for users in their local area.

Areas of work include the following: marketing, sales, IT, administration, event organisation, training planning, HR, Treasurer tasks. A minimum of one day/week, 10am - 4pm, is required increasing to at least two days/week where possible. This opportunity is available until May 2012 when the project finishes.

If you are interested, or know a person who might be, please get in touch with the RISE team on 01923-297122 to arrange to come in for an interview to find out more. Places are limited to 12 people only and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. These opportunities are subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
