Funding an In-Sight training place or voluntary opportunity at RISE
-
Whilst The Recovery In-Sight Social Enterprise (RISE) runs free courses - through grants that have been successfully applied for - it is not always possible to accommodate the number of people who wish to follow these, given that these numbers - of service users, carers and mental health staff - often exceed the number of places available.
We limit our In-Sight course places to 12 people to ensure quality of training, support and guidance for all trainees. We limit our job skills training to small groups, and our peer mentoring and supervision to often individual sessions, so that our training is specific to what our volunteers need at the time to progress in their job goals.
There are TWO ways of gaining a place either on an In-Sight Recovery course, and/or a voluntary placement with job skills training and peer supervision to enable you to return to work:
(1) direct payments or personalised budgets - this will enable you to gain funding for your social care needs, and with this money you can buy the services you feel you need, such as recovery training or a voluntary placement with personalised job skills training, which will enable you in your recovery, and as a way to return to work.
In Hertfordshire, the charity Leonard Cheshire is there to guide you through the process:

And Herts County council has produced a number of leaflets:

In Bedfordshire, the Disability Resource Centre can inform you:

Using a direct payment or personalised budget means that you decide what you want to buy as a service and RISE could accommodate you via this empowering route.
(2) through your Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) at your local Jobcentre Plus, who can suggest to Shaw Trust assessors who are working on the government’s new Work Choice programme, that you would benefit from the recovery training and/or voluntary placements + job skills training in our offices.
The Recovery In-Sight Social Enterprise is an approved Tier 3 provider for Work Choice, working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and Shaw Trust and their partners (Kennedy Scott, Scope, Exemplas, Papworth Trust, RNIB, and the Salvation Army) in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex.
RISE could therefore accommodate you, if you were referred to them via this route.

We hope this is of help to those who request a place on a course or a voluntary opportunity with job skills training - and will be a solution to those who wish to receive our services but who we are not always able to accommodate, given our limited grant funding and high-quality individualised training, peer supervision and support.
We hope to see you soon at The Recovery In-Sight Social Enterprise!
