Over the last 10 years, since attending a self management training course specifically designed for people with the diagnosis of Bipolar affective disorder (Manic Depression) I have successfully practised the techniques of self management . The benefits of remaining well for longer periods and having reduced extremes of highs and low episodes has enabled me to get on with my life, be in control and able to plan for the future as well as realise those plans.
The hope that such a course gives, followed by the empowerment which followed has enriched my life ever since. I have never looked back. I believe that others can benefit from these principles, and I have regularly delivered such courses over the last 10 years, wishing to pass on such techniques to others. On reflection I can honestly say that self-management has saved my job, my home and my marriage. In addition, I also facilitate a local self help group for those who have this condition, and their close ones. I meet up with many who have attended such a course. They too have benefited greatly and are growing from strength to strength as they master the principles of self management. I have learned that this condition is for life. Medication alone does not give one a good quality of life. Medication alongside self management works well for me. I now manage well.
In-Sight is a self management course which offers the benefits of the course I attended in the past but also offers so much more. It is delivered by those who have the condition for those who have the condition and those who care for them. It is far more effective than taking medication alone.
If you want to experience fewer and less extreme mood swings - this may well be just what you are looking for.
